Mat Pilates classes

Mat Pilates classes take place in a group setting and include traditional and modern Pilates exercises preformed on the floor. These classes use your own body weight as the primary source of resistance.

Classes may also include the use of small equipment such as foam rollers, swiss balls, resistance bands, fitness circles and hand weights which are used to increase the resistance and challenge.

Our Pilates classes are both fun and challenging and will strengthen and tone your entire body, as well as improve flexibility. Classes emphasise the foundational principals of Pilates while offering modifications and variations to suit each client’s individual needs

Pilates For Performers

Targeted at Dancers, Ice Skaters & Cheerleaders

Dance, Ice Skating & Cheerleading  are made up of complex movements that integrate both artistry and physicality seamlessly. In all three disciplines students require the creativity and grace of an artist coupled with the strength and control of an athlete.

It’s now widely acknowledged by researchers, clinicians and educators that supplementary training is an essential ingredient to a dancer, skater and cheerleader’s success and longevity. Pilates can help ensure optimal performance and reduced risk of injury.

Pilates brings our attention to the importance of deep core support, pelvic alignment and full ROM allowing for fluid and controlled movement throughout the body. Pilates teaches us to how to integrate our spine with our limbs so overall movement is more fluid and embodied. This leads to efficient, fluid, whole body movements that are essential principles of dance, cheerleading and Ice Skating.

Fleur Wellbeing Pilates studio now holds a “Pilates for Performers” class on  Thursday’s at 4-5pm.

Places are limited and suitable for ages 10-18yrs who are willing to work hard on improving their core strength, balance their muscles and learn how to better control their  movements through precise Pilates training.

Dancers welcome to join any of the classes on our timetable including Reformer circuit.

Please phone 0408 385 340 for more details.

Reformer- Semi private sessions

Reformer sessions are in a very intimate setting with only 3 people per session, allowing lots of close attention from your instructor.

A unique workout using the Pilates Reformers, Pilates Wunda chair (EXO® Chair), and other small Pilates equipment. At Fleurwellbeing we are excited to be the only Pilates studio in Newcastle which have the latest model of Pilates reformers on the market, The Allegro 2 Reformers by Balanced Body.

The Reformer is a Pilates machine that uses spring resistance. It has a moveable carriage and pulley system to assist you to increase strength, flexibility and core stability in a workout you will love as much as the results.

The EXO® Chair from Balanced Body® delivers a unique and fun, full-body workout. Pilates Chair workouts are the ultimate for strength-building. This chair also includes a functional resistance kit that lets you both push & pull. This gives our clients a host of new exercises not possible with any other chair — including many that could previously be done only on a Reformer — and offers a challenging cardio/aerobic workout.

As this class only has maximum of 3 people per class, we focus on the principals of Pilates while offering modifications and variations to suit each student’s individual needs.

PLEASE NOTE: Our sessions are grouped into 2 levels.

Beg/Int reformer sessions are for clients who are new to Pilates and Reformers, those working with injuries that require extra attention and best for pre natal clients.

Advanced reformer sessions are for clients who have been training in Pilates as well as Reformer for a longer period of time and are wanting a faster paced workout. Not suitable for clients with injuries.

Barre

‘Barre Attack’ Inspired classes run for 60 mins and the classes are a dynamic fusion of Pilates, Ballet and Fitness.  It’s an all body workout using the classic Ballet Barre that attacks those dreaded problem areas — legs, butt, thighs and arms.

The actual structure can vary but you can expect the following:

Barre Sections: Think modified Ballet and expect to hear terms like 1st position, 2nd position and Plié (if you want to read a bit more about typical Ballet terms checkout Wikipedia’s Glossary of Ballet). In these sessions you’ll generally have one hand on the barre and be giving your legs and butt a serious workout.

Elastic Sections: Think large elastic bands looped over the Barre that you then use for resistance. Facing away from the Barre you might punch out while holding the elastic, or hold a lunge while doing an upper body rotation. All of this will strengthen your core, arms and legs. It can also be a great way to de-stress.

Cardio Sections: With music flowing different types of cardio intervals are dispersed through the class. This should really help with your overall fitness, burning calories and will certainly get the blood flowing.
